On October 10th, 2024, our Executive Director, Tracy La, received the ‘Emerging Leader’ award from OC Grantmakers. OC Grantmakers, an organization dedicated to advancing equity by fostering strategic relationships among Orange County philanthropists and nonprofits, awards the ‘Emerging Leader’ award to “honor an up-and-coming nonprofit and/or philanthropic professional who has made significant contributions to their field, and who has demonstrated their potential for leadership and continuing service.”
Long-time partners and supporters of Tracy’s work have come forward to celebrate this honor and congratulate her for the award, including: Mayor Pro Tem of Ward 1 in Santa Ana Thai Viet Pham; Orange County Supervisor for the 2nd District, Vicente Sarmiento; Executive Director of the Harbor Institute for Immigrant and Economic Justice, Carlos Perea; VietRISE Operations and Programs Manager, Indigo Vu; and Santa Ana Councilmember for Ward 2, Benjamin Vazquez.
All of them recognized her contributions as an inspiring Vietnamese-American leader who empowers community members in Orange County to advocate for housing justice, immigrant rights, and community empowerment, all while fostering a vibrant and thriving community.
In her heartfelt response to receiving the award, Tracy stated, “This work and the movement we have built for social justice across Little Saigon was possible due to the work of community organizing and the love we have for our community. Thank you to my incredible team, and I’m truly honored to receive this recognition.”
Congratulations Tracy!
